All About Vauva

Sustainability is at the heart of Vauva's mission. The clothes are all made ethically in California using US grown, 100% organic cotton. They are then small batch hand dyed using only natural dyes. The results are super soft and comfy for baby, uniquely beautiful and intended to give rise extra smiles.

Once the clothes are done being loved by one family, they can all be retuned to Vauva for credit, and will have the opportunity to be resold second hand. This cycle can continue until the day when the clothes have lived out their lives and will be composted and returned to the earth.

The designs are mindfully constructed to make dressing easier, feel more comfortable, and give the clothes longer wear for each child.

The goal is to offer you clothes you feel good about.

Our Values

Sustainability

The future of fashion is circular and we want to help make that happen. Our 100% organic cotton fabric has been produced entirely in the US, it is then sewn and dyed in California, ensuring a significantly reduced carbon footprint.

The quality of the final product ensures that it has the opportunity to be loved by many children during its lifespan. By welcoming back our clothes and reselling them second hand, we can help reduce waste, and make our clothes accessible to more families. Composting the 100% natural clothes at the end of their life, completes the cycle.

Ethically Made

Vauva's clothes are manufactured in Southern California, at a small family owned and run business that can be visited any time. Vauva's founder was instantly drawn to this manufacturer from the very first visit. The owner, Noe, is a very kind-hearted, honest man who noticeably loves what he does. He works with music blasting and a smile on his face. He handles the business, does all the cutting and even jumps on the sewing machines when needed. His wife also works there along with about 10-15 other seamsters and seamstresses. Everyone is paid a fair wage and working conditions are good. For Vauva, this is essential and priceless.

Uniquely Beautiful

Have you ever seen an article of clothing dyed naturally? You have likely seen natural indigo dyed fabric, which is the most common. The variety of colors that can be achieved solely through nature is incredible. What is even more special, is the depth and dimention of these colors. Nothing like this can be achieved using synthetic dyes.

Our clothes are all hand dyed in small batches so each piece is unique. The dye is living, always slightly different, always slowly changing and evolving.

Our dyes are safe for the earth and our children, and many even believe them to have healing properties.
